on the night table

I’m the biggest fan of Bloodaxe Books on this side of the Atlantic.
Here’s two more acquisitions to my night table…

Poetry With An Edge, Edited by Neil Astley,Bloodaxe Books, 1993   “… if you want a definition of ‘poetry with an edge’, the poems in this book will supply it. Poetry with an Edge is a startling anthology of vital, vigorous poetry celebrating fifteen years of Bloodaxe Books.”  Features the works of Irina Ratushinskaya, Miroslav Holub, Tony Harrison, Denise Levertov, R.S. Thomas, Kamau Brathwaite, Marin Sorescu, Tomas Tranströmer, and others

Contemporary Women Poets, Edited by Jeni Couzyn, Bloodaxe Books, 1985.  Selections with essays featuring  the works of Sylvia Plath, Stevie Smith, Kathleen Raine, Fleur Adcock, Anne Stevenson, Elizabeth Jennings, Denise Levertov, Elaine Feinstein, Jenny Joseph, Ruth Fainlight and Jeni Couzyn.
